Holding down the heavy end in Peterborough, Ontario are The Wax Addicts, committed vinylists and to date masters in the arts of Drum n Bass and other weaponry. Having pretty much sown up their local underground scene they’ve decided to give their mainstream contemporaries a massive 5hr pimp slap of a mix, you know, just to show them how it’s done.

Ok, so not actually a mixtape, but well worth a listen.

With so many blends going on, people are definitely stepping up the game with what they are putting an acapella over these days. Case in point: Miami producer TenDJiz has released this little gem to the masses. In an unheard of move, he’s paired up Long Islands’s hardest working trio (the brothers from the East with the beats that be thorough), De La Soul with some Soviet, Soul and Jazz. While you may be saying “what is this guy talking about over at FMF?” in the back of your head, hear me out. I’m feeling this, and I have a hunch that you will too. This is some lazy day shit people. I believe I could pump this on a road trip, bike ride, or on a Sunday afternoon while cooking some marvelous shit up in the kitchen. Already gaining high remarks from the likes of Wax Poetics, XXL, Blurt, and the Miami New Times, get this thing before it’s gone. It’ll have you saying: “Xotite potancevat”!

‘This is a Journey into Beats ‘n’ Frames’ famously riffs off of two classic Coldcut trademarks and checks the render setting to ‘highest’. St. Petersburg’s Mr Armtone becomes only the second person to have a guest AV mix on Solid Steel, supplying a packed hour with his trademark tight mixes and equally syncopated imagery . Each video has undergone his own edits, remixes and tweaks and the quality is top notch throughout. It features music and visuals from the Ninja Tune stable with Daedelus, Hexstatic, Diplo, DJ Kentaro and Coldcut all making an appearance, plus more from Tipper, Ian Brown and the Pixies remixed by Bassnectar.
